Ancient Gold Roman Earrings with Pearl & Garnet Dependent
The only reason these are wearable is that I have added modern 18k posts & nuts to the backs. If you are a purist, forget it, you'll need to search for the rest of your life to find something like these that are wearable, and you won't have any luck doing that.
The Mammary Shields are impeccable; no damage anywhere on either earring, however, as I mentioned above, I added posts and nuts to make these wearable. They were unusable prior to that.
The tomb from which these were taken by the Tombari was in Bari, Italy. The earrings passed through the collection of Joel Malter and were worn by one of my models and seen & inspected by a throng of collectors, dealers and experts at many exhibitions. They are nothing short of "delicious".
You will not find anything this choice that is WEARABLE on the open market today. Go search, and when you're satisfied that I'm right, open up your checkbook and write me a check for the absurdly high price I'm asking. These have been with me for almost 40 years, and I'm going to miss them, but have no way to display them at this time.
