Greek Pan Pipe Player, Terra-Cotta, 650-323 B.C.

Very unusual figurine from ancient Greece; you will never see another like it on the open market. This is museum-grade and should be endowed to a receiving institution on passing.

Any representation of the Syrinx is of utmost rarity; the pan style pipe is also played in the Andes, China, Korea, Eastern Europe and Laos.

Modern pan pipes are tuned with wax inserts or seeds.

This is so rare that to my knowledge no other figurine like it has come to the market in the past 45 years. Purchased at a 57th Street NYC gallery art auction in 1959.
