Ghandara, India -- Ancient Terra-Cotta Musician, c. 54 A.D.

ghandara, india, musician, terracotta, ramsuratkamar, Thiruvanamalai, ashram

Ghandaran Musician playing a stringed instrument similar to a tar; she is complete except for a small bit of damage to the feet.

VERY RARE, this figurine's last known location in India was in the town of Thiruvanamalai, Tamil Nadu, India, home of many gurus including Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Sri Aurobindo, Ramana Maharishi and Papa Ramdas, she remained there for an unknown time until 1955, when she was brought to the US by an American collector, and sold at auction in November of 1959.

This would make a wonderful gift for the museum collection in the lineage.

Repaired at the thighs, else fine. This is a RARE item; you will not find another one like it anywhere at any price.

$3,200.00
