HUGE luscious Roman Period COBALT glass beads c. 100 B.C. - 300 A.D.

beads, cobalt, roman, glass

This is a full-sized necklace of very large and beautiful cobalt blue beads. Cobalt is now forbidden for public use except in the manufacture of cobalt-based medicines and, of course, nuclear stuff.

The Romans were exceptional in their use of cobalt and their blue beads are among the best ever made.

A matched set of these is quite rare; each bead can bring a great deal more if sold separately -- I have kept the price reasonable and fair. This is a high-reading artifact and has been in my studio for over 40 years.
